A Little Bit of Perspective
Since diving into the world of event painting, I’ve had to dust off some tools I hadn’t really used since art school. Rulers. Yes, rulers! The kind I used to draw hallways and stairwells back in college. In portrait painting, perspective doesn’t always play a big role. But in event painting, where I’m capturing the essence of a room, even the slightest deviation in line can distort the entire space. It's incredible how a few carefully placed lines can transform a blank canvas into a bustling room.
As excited as I am about this new journey, I’ve learned that nothing happens overnight. It’s easy to get caught up in the enthusiasm of starting something new, but I have to remind myself: patience and practice are key. Just like with perspective in painting, the journey to mastering this craft and building a business will take time. There are a lot of lines to draw, and a lot of practice to be had before everything falls into place.
Right now, I’m figuring out the right “lines” to take to launch my event painting business. The right connections. The right advertising. The right audience. The right content. Each one feels like a crucial angle that will determine whether everything clicks.
It often feels like the pieces of this journey need to be placed with precision. Like in perspective drawing, every move has to be calculated. And while the final picture may look seamless, the process is anything but. But just like in painting, every line — every choice — brings me closer to the end result.
So, as I continue to sketch out the framework of this new venture, I remind myself that the key is in setting the right foundation. The angles might be imperfect at first, but with time, patience, and plenty of practice, everything will fall into place.
